Until 2020, medium cars were the most popular segment within the battery-electric vehicle (BEV) market in the United States. These were taken over by sport-utility vehicles in 2021. By 2023, some ** percent of all BEV sales in the U.S. were SUVs, which was some ** percentage points higher than the share of SUV sales in the global BEV market.
