The cantonal building energy performance certificates are also known as GEAK in German, CECB in French, and CECE in Italian. It is the equivalent of the energy performance certificate used in the United Kingdom and the European Union.

Over half of the cantonal building energy performance certificate updates issued between 2020 and 2024 in the Switzerland had a direct CO2 emissions rating of *. The share certificates updated that year and received an A rating was ** percent. Meanwhile, ** percent of certificates released for the first time between 2020 and 2024 also had a direct CO2 emissions rating of A. These types of certificates are not mandatory in all Switzerland, as they are in other countries.
