Greenhouse gas emissions in Germany - Statistics & Facts
Having managed to its cut emissions by more than 45 percent since 1990, Germany now has its sights set on GHG neutrality by 2045. The EU's biggest GHG emitter has managed to achieve these reductions through a variety of factors, with reduced coal reliance and increased renewable energy use both playing key roles. But while there is signs Germany can achieve its climate ambitions, there will be many challenges along the way, particularly as several highly polluting sectors have so far struggled to achieve meaningful reductions.
