Metro area is defined by a circle that covers the city and the surrounding rural areas. The circles were made at the beginning of the Traffic Index and with help from people local to the area where possible.
Time lost per year is described as the average duration of time lost due to traffic delays over the course of a year. 230 working days is assumed (therefore 230 trips per year).
Time lost in traffic is described as the difference in travel times between the same trip in optimal conditions (free-flow travel times) and the current congested travel times.
