According to a survey held in the United States in June 2023, respondents said that the things that would most help them to trust local political journalists were being deliberate in openly questioning people from all sides, and asking tough but respectful questions to get the necessary answers, with ** percent of adults saying this would help strengthen their trust of those reporting on local politics. On the other hand, having experience in political coverage or dedicating their work to particular issues were considered less important for increasing trust.
