The results of a survey held in summer 2022 found that attitudes towards who should be held accountable for the spread of misinformation varied according to political affiliation, with a substantially higher share of Democrats saying they felt that social media platforms were responsible than Republicans. Overall, the government was deemed less responsible than other entities.
