Heading into a presidential election year, a December 2023 survey found that a considerable share of Republicans in the United States placed very little trust in social media to accurately report election information. Almost two-thirds of Republicans reported having not much or any trust in social media. Comparatively, just over half of Democrats placed a fair amount of trust in social media's reporting of election information.
