As of September 2025, the household cost inflation rate (HCI) for low-income households in the United Kingdom was 4.2 percent, compared with fourpercent for middle-income, and high-income households. Unlike other measures of inflation such as the consumer price index (CPI) the HCI isn't based on a fixed basket of goods, but is weighted to show how price changes affect different households by their economic status.
