Distributed wind systems are distributed energy resources that are connected at the distribution level of the electricity system or in microgrid or off-grid applications. Distributed wind systems can range from a less than 1 kilowatt (kW) off-grid wind turbine at a remote cabin or oil and gas platform, to a 10-kW wind turbine at a home or farm, to several multi-megawatt wind turbines at a university campus, at a manufacturing facility, or connected to the distribution system of a local utility.
