In 2023, member states of the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) adopted a revised strategy to slash international shipping GHG emissions to net zero by or around 2050. To reach this target, countries agreed to reduce international shipping emissions by at least ** percent by 2030, relative to 2008 levels. This increases to at least ** percent by 2040, but pushing toward ** percent.
