In the United States, United Kingdom, France, and Germany, the share of respondents stating that it is very or somewhat important to share the respective country's customs and traditions in order to be regarded as truly American/British/French/German dropped in all four countries from 2016 to 2020. The drop was most significant in the United Kingdom, where it dropped by ** percentage points during the period. Still, in all four countries, more than ** percent of the respondents stated that it was important to share the country's customs and traditions in order to be regarded as truly British, American, French, or German.
