According to a 2022 survey, ** percent of respondents from France are against increasing the tax paid on fuel as a measure to tackle climate change. The majority of them is also against banning the production and sale of diesel and petrol cars and increasing the price of flight tickets, despite the fact that the transport sector is the main source of CO2 emissions in France. On the other hand, over ** percent of the participants to the survey would support the introduction of taxes for the companies responsible for the largest CO2 emissions.

The same survey on attitudes toward climate change policies in Italy shows that Italian respondents held similar views.
