Renewable energy in the Asia-Pacific region - statistics & facts
The Asia-Pacific (APAC) region is rapidly transforming its energy landscape, leveraging abundant natural resources and technological innovation to lead the global renewable energy market. In 2024, APAC accounted for more than half of global renewable energy capacity, led by China, India, and Japan. While fossil fuels still dominate the region鈥檚 overall energy mix, its continued expansion of renewable capacities such as solar, wind, and hydro enables the growth in renewable electricity generation in APAC. Renewable energy now accounts for more than 25 percent of electricity generation in APAC, though the dynamics differs across the region鈥檚 markets.
