In a survey conducted in September 2021, Southeast Asians of legal driving age were asked for reasons why they would not consider purchasing an electric car such as a battery electric vehicle (BEV) or a plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV).
The leading concern for respondents from Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam was the lack of recharging stations in their area. Respondents from Malaysia and Indonesia were most critical of the high prices for electric cars, while **** of the respondents from the Philippines mentioned the longer recharging time for BEVs and PHEVs.
