Growth in electric vehicle charging stations

For electric car owners to charge their vehicles along the way, dedicated charging stations are needed along the road network. These stations are fast, public, or semi-public, providing nearly ** charging points combined across the Netherlands, an increase from the previous year, when there were just under ** charging stations opened to the public. Moreover, it is estimated that there were an additional **private charging points in the Netherlands in 2023.

Tesla Model 3: most popular electric car

Among the leading fully electric passenger cars registered in the Netherlands, the Tesla Model 3 was the most registered electric car in the country's passenger car fleet. The Tesla Model Y accumulated nearly * registrations and the Kia Niro had around * units registered. Volkswagen and Tesla are the only two brands represented with two models in the top ten battery-electric cars in the Dutch fleet.
