As of the third quarter of 2022, Thailand had the largest market share of electric vehicle (EV) sales in Southeast Asia, amounting to around ** percent. Indonesia followed this with a ** percent market share. In contrast, the Philippines' market share of EV sales in the region amounted to less than * percent.
Recent data showed that consumers in Southeast Asia shared a positive outlook regarding the concept of electric vehicles. Most consumers in the region were willing to pay an equal or premium price to purchase a vehicle with an electric engine. Nevertheless, the availability of charging spots and potential durability concerns prevented the public from readily transitioning towards EVs.
  Most recently, Chinese car manufacturer Wuling had the highest share of EV sales in the region, with Volvo, BMW, and Mercedes closely following the lead. It was also estimated that within the next few years, the total number of alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) charging stations could exceed 200,000.
