East Asia was by far the region that registered the highest production of phosphoric acid (H3PO4) in 2024. In that year, production in the region reached 33.4 million metric tons, considerably greater than Africa, the second leading region in phosphoric acid production worldwide. The global production of phosphoric acid amounted to 90.3 million metric tons in 2024. Phosphoric acid is a liquid intermediate used to manufacture a wide variety of chemical products.Â
