The global production of muriate of potash, also known as MOP or potassium chloride, surpassed 76.5 million metric tons in 2024, up from less than 32 million metric tons in 2009. MOP is the main source of potassium in fertilizers. Apart from its use as a fertilizer, MOP is also used as a raw material in several industrial processes.
