Respondents were asked how important they regarded each medium as "a means to gain information (source of information)." There were five possible answers: "Very important," "Important to a certain degree," "Neither," "Not really important," "Absolutely not important." The values shown in this statistic represent the combined share of respondents who answered either "Very important" or "Important to a certain degree."

According to a survey conducted in Japan during fiscal year 2024, **** percent of the respondents stated that television is an important source of information. While more than **** of the respondents stated the same about the internet, the share of people who thought this way about newspapers and magazines was considerably lower.
