In 2023, the region with the highest consumption of fertilizers worldwide was East Asia, followed by South Asia and then Latin America and the Caribbean. The consumption of fertilizers in East Asia reached some 64.5 million metric tons, whereas South Asia consumed 38.9 million metric tons of fertilizers that year.
