Despite having a positive trade balance throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Hungary's current account over these two decades combined to give an accumulated -11.2 billion U.S. dollars. Overall, Hungary exported more than it imported; however, invisible transactions (the international transaction of intangible goods or services) gave a negative current account in most years.
