Light-duty trucks in the United States produced the equivalent of 660 million metric tons of carbon dioxide (MtCO₂e) in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 1.7 percent in comparison to the previous year. U.S. light-duty trucks emit more than twice the volume of emissions they did in 1990, and are now the largest source of U.S. transportation sector emissions.
