In an attempt to motivate a shift to low and zero-emissions trucks, the European Union set new carbon dioxide emission standards for heavy-duty commercial vehicles in February 2019. Out of all the trucks registered in 2020 and falling under this regulation, ** percent were Volkswagen units. The German manufacturer was followed by its competitor Volvo Trucks, which held a quarter of the market. Overall, ** out of 25 trucks were in compliance with the new standards.
