Between 2015 and 2019, carbon dioxide emissions of commercial vehicles in the European Union (EU27) have steadily increased across both main vehicle types, light-duty trucks, and heavy-duty trucks and buses, reaching a total of around *** million metric tons in 2019. However, the total amount decreased to *** million metric tons in 2020. The comparison between both vehicle types indicates that heavy-duty trucks and buses produced more than twice as many carbon dioxide emissions, reaching million metric tons, compared to **** million.
