Electricity is the most common residential heating fuel type in Tennessee. In 2022, some 63.1 percent of occupied housing units in the state used electricity for heating. Utility gas is the second most used house heating fuel type. Electricity and utility gas combined accounted for more than 90 percent of Tennessee's residential heating.
