In 2019, ADEME (French Environment and Energy Management Agency), an agency affiliated with the French Ministry of Ecological and Solidarity Transition and in charge of environmental protection operations and energy management, defined responsible consumption as the act of going beyond the simple interest of a product's promises of use, by taking into consideration its genesis and its influence on the environment and society. One of the behaviors associated with this way of consuming consists in choosing products based on environmental labels. Yet, in 2019, the presence of such a label was an important criterion for more than **** of the French (** percent) when purchasing non-food products.
