The number of asylum seekers in Norway decreased significantly over the past couple of years. In 2022, people applied for asylum in the country, which was the highest since 2015, when * asylum seekers were registered when the so-called refugee crisis was peaking. The low number of asylum seekers in recent years must be seen in relation with the closing of most of Europe's borders as well as the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021.
