In 2020, most museums, galleries, and similar cultural institutions in Italy were interested in QR codes and Beacon technologies. While QR codes are two-dimensional barcodes showing a website's URL once scanned, Beacon technologies are wireless transmitters sharing information to nearby smartphones via Bluetooth. Data show that roughly **** of cultural institutions in Italy provided *** of these *** digital tools to its audience.
