A survey held in the United States in June 2020 revealed a split in perceptions of reporting on race relations, with 55 percent of Black Americans feeling that news organizations do not provide enough coverage on the subject, compared to just 33 percent of white respondents. Following the international protests in response to the death of George Floyd, Americans were surveyed on their attitude to news coverage of race relations, which highlighted the differing attitudes according to ethnicity, age group, and political affiliation. Older consumers and Republicans were more likely to feel that there was either too much or just enough news about racism and the protests, whereas younger generations and Democrats considered there to be too little.
