Survey targets were domestic households and businesses in possession of light vehicles.
Passenger cars are classified under Japan鈥檚 Road Vehicles Act in three categories, based primarily on engine capacity: 鈥渟tandard鈥 (over 2,000cc), 鈥渟mall鈥 (661cc-2,000cc), and 鈥渕ini鈥 (660cc and under).

According to a survey conducted in 2023 about the usage of light motor vehicles among private households and businesses in Japan, most main drivers of mini cars were people in their 60s and ** with ** percent, followed by people in their fifties. Japanese mini cars or kei cars must not exceed *** meters in length, * meters in height, and **** meters in width. The engine capacity is restricted to **** liters.
