Motorcycle market in Japan - statistics & facts
Japan is a global force in the motorcycle industry. More than one in three newly manufactured motorcycles worldwide are produced by Japanese companies. The Japanese 鈥淏ig Four鈥 include Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Kawasaki, and constitute the core of Japan's motorcycle industry. The lion's share of motorcycles manufactured by these companies are produced outside of Japan, while鈥domestic production of motorbikes鈥痠s comparatively low. Due to limited domestic demand, the majority of motorcycles produced in Japan are exported, with Europe and North America being the leading shipping destinations.
