According to a survey by on panic buying after the coronavirus outbreak in April 2020, around 45 percent of South Korean respondents stated that they bought goods in bulk as they were afraid supermarkets or shops would run out of certain items soon. In the same survey, around 15.4 percent of South Korean respondents said they had engaged in panic buying.
