According to a survey on gender equality conducted between November 2022 and January 2023, close to ** percent of female respondents in Japan disagreed with the statement that a husband should work outside of the home while a wife takes care of the household. While a majority of men also disagreed with traditional gender roles, the share among men was slightly lower than among women.
