Impact of the coronavirus on inbound tourist arrivals in Italy 2020-2024, by scenario
A study from December 2020 analyzed the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on international tourist arrivals in Italy from 2020 to 2024. It presented three alternative scenarios. According to the baseline scenario, Italy would experience a drop of ** million international arrivals in 2020 over the previous year. Then, inbound tourist arrivals will almost return to the 2019 level by 2023.
The upside scenario, which considers a faster recovery, forecast a decrease of ** million inbound arrivals in 2020. Finally, the downside scenario, supposing a slower recovery, estimated a decrease of ** million tourist arrivals in 2020.
