Impact of the coronavirus on domestic tourist spending in Italy 2020-2024
A study from December 2020 analyzed the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on domestic tourist spending in Italy from 2020 to 2024. It presented three alternative scenarios. According to the baseline scenario, domestic tourist spending would experience a drop of **** billion euros in 2020 over the previous year. In 2022, tourist spending would increase by billion euros over the 2019 level.
The upside scenario, which considers a faster recovery, forecast a decrease of ** billion euros in 2020. Finally, the downside scenario, supposing a slower recovery, estimated a decrease of **** billion euros in 2020.
