YoY growth refers to share of bookings received in comparison to the same period last year. For example, YoY growth 100% means Airbnb received the same amount of bookings compared to last year. YoY growth of 150% in week 1 2020 means there were 50% more bookings than in week 1 2019.
Data is based on the review data scraped by Airbtics from Airbnb.com between September 7 and 22, 2020. Limitation: 80-95% of active listings.
"Active listing" here means a listing that has its first review before 2019 April and its last review after 2020 March, so that the booking difference between 2019 and 2020 can be compared in a more fair way.
The dates refers to the week ending (e.g. Jan 12, 2020 shows the YoY change in number of bookings between January 6 to 12, 2020).
Airbnb bookings in Rome, and Municipio Roma I, namely the zone including the historical center of the Italian capital, dropped significantly in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. On , the year-over-year (YoY) growth in Rome reached percent, meaning that the Airbnb bookings rose by **** percent compared to the same period of 2019. However, in March the number of bookings dropped sharply. The lowest figure was then recorded on ***, 2020, when Airbnb accommodations in Rome only received *** percent of bookings compared to the previous year.
