JPMorgan Chase led the ranking for several years in a row, reaching a purchase volume of **** trillion U.S. dollars in 2025. The bank also ranked as the top merchant acquirer in the United States. American Express, or AmEx, followed closely, with a purchase volume of slightly over ***trillion U.S. dollars.
