A survey held between January and February 2022 found that ** percent of respondents from Cyprus agreed that news misrepresenting reality, or false news, was a problem to democracy in general. A similar share of respondents from Malta, Czechia, Greece, and Croatia said the same. Austrians and Romanians were less inclined to believe this to be the case, with under ** percent of respondents from each of these two EU member states respectively saying that they strongly or somewhat agreed.
