Furthermore, across the whole of Europe, there were over **** thousand cases of Syphilis reported in 2017. The UK and Germany had the highest number of cases in their countries with each having over thousand cases reported in this year.

HIV transmissions through sex

There were approximately *** thousand people in Europe who were diagnosed with HIV through heterosexual sex in 2018, although the number of transmissions has been dropping year-on-year since 2009. Furthermore, over **** thousand new cases of HIV diagnosed were among men who had sex with men in Europe in 2018, although the number of cases has been dropping since 2014.
