In 2018, just under five percent of Belgians, aged 15 and over, had been screened for HIV during the last 12 months. Whilst similar figures were found in 2008, the share of Belgians screened for HIV was higher in 2013. In most European countries, the prevention of HIV revolves around aspects: the use of condoms, screen testing, and treatment. To put these figures into perspective, in 2018, one out of four Belgians had undergone a single HIV screening in their entire lifetime.
