According to a nationally representative survey among consumers in the United Kingdom conducted in November 2018, approximately 39 percent of respondents kept cash at home because they sometimes needed it (i.e. for paying tradesmen, window cleaner or gardener). Approximately one in five respondents advised that they felt it is good to have some cash in case the IT systems go down.
