Veganism and vegetarianism in Italy- statistics & facts
In 2024, 7.2 percent of Italians were vegetarian, while 2.3 percent were vegan. The number of vegetarians and vegans in Italy has shown some fluctuations in recent years, but, as of 2024, the percentage of vegetarians has reached its highest level in a decade. The shares of those choosing these two diets differed among the various demographic groups. Vegetarianism was more prevalent among young people while veganism seemed to average out among the age groups. In terms of gender, female vegetarians and male vegans outnumbered their counterparts.
