Technology industry in Israel - statistics & facts
Israel boasts the highest percentage of its workforce in the technology industry globally, alongside being among the top three nations in per capita VC investment. The country has firmly established itself as an integral part of the global innovation landscape, serving as a hub for scientific discovery, research and development (R&D), and business opportunities. Consequently, the local tech ecosystem has seen remarkable growth, becoming the driving force behind Israel's economic success in recent decades. Despite a recent deceleration in capital inflows, the sector's output exceeded 339 billion Israeli shekels, equivalent to some 92 billion U.S. dollars, in 2023. This represented almost a fifth of the nation's gross domestic product (GDP), showcasing a striking 70 percent surge in output since 2019. This underscores the rapid expansion of the tech industry and its crucial role in propelling Israel’s economy.
