With an increasing global interest in K-pop, more and more K-pop artists are achieving superstardom both at home and abroad. From PSY鈥檚 鈥淕angnam Style鈥 to BTS鈥檚 meteoric rise to global fame, album sales are at an all-time high, having increased by over 1,000 percent over the past decade. At home, it is one of the most popular music genres, while abroad it continues to establish itself as something more than merely a trend. According to a 2024 survey, over half of respondents worldwide stated that K-pop was very popular in their respective countries. K-pop and its artists are increasingly present at high-profile international music festivals, award shows, and other events such as major fashion shows.
