Animation in South Korea - statistics & facts
South Korean animation studios have long supported various high-profile international animation productions, such as 鈥淭he Legend of Korra鈥 by Studio Mir. In recent times, however, Korean animation productions have come into their own, with their global popularity rising to around 69 percent in a 2021 survey. In 2020, the industry achieved a sales revenue worth over 553 billion South Korean won, with the largest share coming from the production sector.
