* CEQ stands for "canais de espaço qualificado" or qualified space channels. They are subject to the quota of Brazilian content broadcasting for three and a half hours during prime time (at least half of which must be independent content).
** CABEQ stands for "canal brasileiro de espaço qualificado" or Brazilian qualified space channel. It must be programmed by Brazilian programmers; broadcast, during prime time, mostly Brazilian audiovisual content that constitutes qualified space, with half of this content produced by independent Brazilian producers; and not be subject to an exclusivity agreement that prevents its programmer from commercializing the rights of its exhibition or broadcast.
The source defines "qualified space" as the channel's total programming space, excluding religious or political content, sports events and demonstrations, contests, advertising, teleshopping, infomercials, electronic games, mandatory political advertising, party election broadcast, journalistic content, and talk shows anchored by a presenter.
