Over **** million single-family houses with outdoor features were completed in 2025, slightly down from **** million in 2024. Features such as patios, porches, or decks have been on the rise, showing that they are popular among homebuyers. Patio and porch was the most popular outdoor features combination for new single-family homes in 2025.
The number of residential real estate completions has risen slowly since 2010, but the decline in the issuance of new building permits since 2023 shows that new supply is likely to decline in the future.
