Using WhatsApp less often than once a month was the most common usage frequency among Danes in 2019, according to ** percent of the service users. ** percent used the app weekly and ** percent used it several times a day. The app was among the leading social media platforms in 2017 , used by ** percent of the respondents. Facebook and YouTube came first and second on the list, with ** percent and ** percent of respondents respectively, using the platforms.

Why WhatsApp?

A survey, conducted in the first half of 2017 found that the most common reason for using WhatsApp in Denmark was to keep contact with friends and family, according to ** percent of people interviewed. Eight percent of the respondents used the app for entertainment, while **** percent used it for news and another **** percent used it to strengthen their professional network that year.

Communication apps in Denmark

WhatsApp ranked third in a ranking from 2019 for leading mobile communication apps in Google Play Store in Denmark, by daily active users. Nearly ** thousand users were reported to use the app. The communication apps which led in the ranking were Messenger with over *** thousand users and Skype, which had roughly *** thousand users. Similarly, WhatsApp came also third in the ranking of apps in the Apple App store for the same period. It had over *** thousand users. Facebook came first with over one million users and Messenger was second with *** thousand users in 2019.
