Coal in this statistic refers to commercial solid fuels like bituminous coal and anthracite (hard coal), lignite and brown (sub-bituminous) coal, and other commercial solid fuels. Excludes coal converted to liquid or gaseous fuels, but includes coal consumed in transformation processes.
In 2024, China was the biggest consumer of coal in the Asia-Pacific region and globally, with a total consumption of approximately exajoules. That year, India was the second-largest consumer of coal worldwide, consuming around Ìý±ð³æ²¹Âá´Ç³Ü±ô±ð²õ.
