The number of mortgage sales in the Netherlands in 2022 declined for the time since 2013. During that period, the number of new mortgage loans rose from ** in 2013 to ** in 2021, followed by a drop to ** in 2022. One of the reasons behind the nearly decade-long period was the asset purchase programme (APP) of the European Central Bank and the low mortgage rates. This can be seen in the, the number of registered transactions which saw a steady increase.
